Planning to move to Mar del Plata - Punta Mogotes near the beach. Can anyone give me any advice on Mar del Plata - would be particularly interested to know about good kindergarten for a 2 year old, supermarkets, butchers, grocery shopping, nannies, socializing with expats, socializing with locals, best beach spots for sunbathing, surfing, where to go clothes shopping (kids and adults), good value / quality places to eat. Many thanks for your help. If you are in MDP, would be happy to meet up and get a few rounds in.

I got family living in Punto Mogotes and I love this place! I recommend the supermarket La Familia. On the same block you got la Esquina de Vicente with nice jazz nights. For clothes I recomend Juan b Justo avenue, with many outlets. Surfing I think the beaches on the south are the best (Chapmalal). To eat I super recommend La Marina, Che Picadas & El Viajo Davis.

Related to socializing, I am not aware of many options but I am actually considering starting myself something. Here in BA I co-founded with a friend from US a community called Cafe con Idiomas, it´s basicaly a open gathering to praticse language and meet people, and with this community I met most of my friends in BA. I think it would be a great idea to start something in Mar del Plata as I got future plans to live there.

I've only been to Mar de la Plata once, in December 2021, and stayed at Hotel Costa Galana with a view of Playa Grande surf spot (don't know the official name). There was a head high swell with off shore winds and a very high level of surfers ripping. You could rent a board on the beach there. We visited Waikiki beach to the south. There were peaks breaking all over the place, but the wind wasn't very good for surfing that day.
. You can probably get a good idea of where to surf, by clicking on the nearby spots tab at https://www.surfline.com/surf-report/bahia-faro/584204214e65fad6a7709bc3. Who knows, your two year old could one day be seen surfing here https://www.worldsurfleague.com/
